My Platform: Transforming Nursing Together

I am excited to be running for the office of Director for the Texas Nurses Association (TNA)! I could not be more proud to be a member of the TNA and to be a nurse. My platform, “Transforming Nursing Together”, is based on an unrelenting passion for improving the careers of nurses from all experience levels and specialties. Furthermore, I feel called to serve the profession and I cannot imagine doing anything but being a fierce advocate for all nurses. From the bedside to the board room, I believe that nurses belong in the conversations that shape our profession. With over 6.5 years at the bedside, I believe I will be able to bring the issues of the bedside nurse to the table; while fiercely advocating for nurses of all experience levels and specialties.

I am committed to supporting the strategic plan of the Texas Nurses Association. This includes developing more revenue generating programs, increasing membership engagement, and supporting Texas nursing policy. My perspective as a Nurse Manager will allow me to bring the stories of clinical nurses to a place where change can be made. I envision creating programs that will span the generational gap to allow for more experienced nurses to guide new nurses to be the future leaders of the profession and of the TNA.

Texas Nurses: I promise to advocate for you and make your voices heard at the table where change occurs! I will not rest until all nurses feel they are supported, appreciated, and have healthy working environments! Vote Mary Vitullo RN for Director and we will transform nursing together!

Testifying on Capitol Hill in Austin, Texas in support of the Workplace Violence Prevention Bill. I was able to represent the voice of bedside nurses and share our stories. The bill passed and now provides protections for nurses who experience workplace violence.

Goals

  1. Support the TNA Strategic plan by creating programs that will increase revenue, grow the membership, and support the needs of the membership.

  2. Create opportunities to support nurses through community initiatives.

  3. Increase member engagement from all levels of experience by creating innovative professional development opportunities.

  4. To be a voice for direct care nurses.

  5. Advocate for nursing policy that will enhance the careers of nurses and protect the people of Texas.

I committed to advocating for nurses on the Hill and advancing the strategic plan of the TNA.

Vision For the Future of Nursing

My vision for the future of nursing is a profession that always has a seat at the table where change occurs. A place where nurses feel protected, supported, and appreciated. Nurses who have healthy environments will go above and beyond to be engaged with their profession. Supporting nurses will fiercely protect the people of Texas!
